ECU mapping is the process of enhancing your engine so it performs more efficiently. The results are more torque and power than the original factory manufacturer provides. An ECU flash can increase the horsepower to the upper limits of your engine’s capabilities by allowing more powerful combustion with a higher fuel-to-air ratio. This allows your car to safely perform at its fullest potential!

Reprogramming the 'brain' of the car improves the general functionality of the car providing a smoother driving experience in terms of road handling, cornering, smoothing out acceleration, and more.

how does it work?

INSPECTION - VISUAL & MECHANICAL

Before connecting our tuning software, we will always do a visual and mechanical check of the vehicle. We will check for any obvious signs of damage or alarming noises coming from the vehicle that may hinder us from being able to perform a tune.

READING & REMOVING THE ORIGINAL ECU FILE

Using our tuning software, we read and remove the original ECU before sending it off to our headquarters be modified and reprogrammed.

SECOND DIAGNOSTIC SCAN

Once the tuned file has been uploaded into the vehicle's computer, we run a second diagnostic scan. This is to ensure that everything has been installed, and updated correctly, and that there are no faults or error codes showing following the installation of the new ECU file.

DIAGNOSTIC SCAN

We will connect our software to the vehicle's computer to check for any faults or error codes that may stop us from being able to perform the tune.

We will then log and save the file, informing you of any current or past errors or faults, and advise the best performance benefits for your vehicle.

UPLOADING YOUR NEW ECU FILE

We upload and install the data of the tuned file. This will update the car's software with the new data improving power, speed, and overall performance of the engine.

TEST DRIVE

The last, and most exciting step in the process, is to test drive the car! We will always perform a test drive to ensure the car handles as expected and that the client is satisfied with the results.

THE 3 METHODS USED TO MODIFY YOUR CAR'S 'BRAIN'

diagnostic port

This is done by connecting our software to the diagnostic port in your car to access the data. Once we have the read the file, we send it off to be modified, and reprogrammed, before reinstalling it back into your car. Ready to go!

BENCH FLASH

Some cars do not provide the option to access the data via a diagnostic port. In this case, the ECU needs to be physically removed from your car with a specific tool, to remap it.

ANTI-TUNE FLASH

Cars with anti-tune measures create certain walls that need to be bypassed before performing a tune. This last option and the most delicate method requires removing the brain (Ecu short for Electronic Control Unit), opening the seal, and wiring directly into the chips, where the relevant information is stored. We safely access the data, modify it and then re-seal the ECU again.

Economy

This modification is aimed to get some power gains but mainly to increase fuel savings.

STAGE 1

Stage 1 is designed to work with all the stock components and improve power and driving experience.

STAGE 2

Stage 2 in some cars greatly enhances the stock components, other cars will require some slight modifications for increased boost, such as catalyst converter removal, exhaust system, and high flow filters.

STAGE 3 - THE BIG GUNS!

Stage 3 provides maximum power by optimising all available horsepower for your engine! Something that needs to be considered is that for a stage 3, you will need a highly modified engine that includes pistons, con rods, crankshaft, valve systems, etc..the list is long and so is the maintenance of the vehicle! A stage 3 is an excellent option for racing or track days but not for day-to-day driving.

Your car will crackle and bang on deceleration, the perfect add-on for those that like to be heard!

Diesel cars with clogged particle filters are expensive for parts and labour.

Our software can safely eliminate and override the DPF for you. The only way this can be done is to REMOVE the unit by a trained mechanic.

We must let the car know that it is no longer a filter present to avoid the MIL light going on. Please be aware that removing this feature can drastically alter your emissions and might fail the ITV/ MOT.

The EGR is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. Its function is to open a valve to allow a portion of the exhaust gases back into the air inlet, yes burned gases back into the system. This is done to reduce emissions, burning twice the waste generated. The idea behind it is to reduce emissions but at the cost of higher intake temperatures.

Over time, mainly in diesel cars, a very high amount of pollution begins to generate in the intake manifolds, valves, and combustion chamber which eventually leads to the failure of certain components.

For more information just google “EGR soot” and look at the images! Getting rid of this early will prevent further soot accumulation.

If your car has already some mileage on it, we would recommend having it thoroughly cleaned first by a mechanic, and not with a spray cleaner (those promise a lot and don’t get rid of all of it).

Many cars come with a secondary set of butterflies in the intake system. These are generally made of plastic and over time deteriorate, or fall off, resulting in poor engine performance. If they fall into your car's combustion chamber, the most plausible result is catastrophic engine failure. Not cool!

The safest way to remove the swirl flap removal is by a trained mechanic. The ECU will then be flashed to remove its function from the car. Save yourself the hassle of costly repairs and headaches!

Removing the catalytic converter if you have one… If you have a petrol car with the intention of fitting a high-end sport or race exhaust, you must first remove the catalytic converter and inform the car's system that it has been removed. This is to avoid the MIL light constantly kicking in, which will eventually leave the car in limp mode.

It is important to remember that these mods as usually race-track orientated so removing the catalytic converter, will most likely result in ITV/MOT failure.
